CHC Group likes to hover around. The company's CHC Helicopter subsidiary operates about 230 helicopters in some 20 countries. The majority of sales come from providing helicopter support to the oil and gas industry, i.e., servicing offshore platforms. CHC does much of its business in the North Sea; Europe accounts for almost 30% of sales. It also operates in several other major offshore oil production areas. It provides additional services including emergency medical; civilian search and rescue; and helicopter maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) through its Heli-One unit. The company went public in the US in early 2014.
